Wonderness, our torus heart

In a Guide to Wonder, we revealed that Wonderness is evolving this year into the center of the Torus Energy Field, with Axis Mundi becoming its torus heart. 

We believe that everything in creation has its own energy field: people, animals, plants and even non-living objects. This energy field is both a shield and a dynamic flow that moves in infinite directions, continuously relaying information and connecting to the world around us. 

Usually simplified into a donut-like shape, the Torus Energy Field governs many aspects of our lives. If we look, we find this pattern of flowing energy everywhere—in magnetic forces, the shapes of seeds and flowers, the perfect symmetry of a tree’s branches and roots,  in galaxies and in the universe as a whole. We see it in the overlapping vortexes of the Flower of Life—the sacred geometry that Wonderness’s layout naturally evolved into. 

The human heart, too, has muscles that spiral, circulating blood through our veins and generating a Torus Energy Field that expands furthest from the human body. That’s why the torus heart is the core of this dynamic, unending flow of energy.

The concept Axis Mundi has been a part of Wonderness since 2022, when our central theme was the human body as Axis Mundi. In 2024 Axis Mundi became its own structure, with a 16-pointed star roof inspired by the tetrahedron in sacred geometry, embodying balance, sacred energy and spiritual connection. 

Axis Mundi represents the rotating axis connecting the earth beneath with the celestial above, connecting the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. 

If you’re having trouble visualizing where it all fits, imagine nesting dolls sitting inside each other. 

On the outside is the largest doll: The Fields, with Wonderness as its Axis Mundi—its heart. The next doll in is Wonderness, with Axis Mundi (the venue) at its center. 

And then inside Axis Mundi, each Wonderer has your own Axis Mundi: your beating heart. Each of these nestled hearts expand and connect with unique ever-spinning Torus Energy Fields. 

Through Axis Mundi, we attune our inner and outer worlds, exploring relationships between mind and nature. And this approach aligned with how practitioners and healers have brought their wisdom to Wonderness, guiding us to balance within, aligning inside and outside as one.

When we’re aware of how we treat ourselves and the world around us, we find greater presence, aligning the heart, mind and emotions. 

When energy flows freely, we feel alive, connected. When we feel positive emotions like gratitude or love, our heart rhythms become more coherent, creating more emotional stability, mental clarity and decision-making. We work through these energies through meditation, breathwork, mindfulness that can help us feel more centered and in control. We seek compassion and connection to create harmonious rhythms. 

This year’s theme for Wonderness is a way for us to honor that science and spirituality are not always separate spheres. They are interconnected, as we are with all things living or inanimate. And it signifies the end of one cycle and the shift into another—a decade spent in The Fields, journeying inward, connecting outward.
